World Series of Fighting has announced Jake Shields’ first bout with the promotion, as the UFC vet will take on Tristar’s Ryan Ford, October 11th. The welterweight tilt will be part of WSOF 14, which will be hosted by Edmonton’s Northlands Expo Centre.

Shields (29-7-1) was let go by the UFC following his decision loss to Hector Lombard at UFC 171 in March. Prior to the defeat, the renowned grappler had scored back-to-back wins over contenders Demian Maia and Tyron Woodley.

Ford (22-4) is riding a six fight win streak, which includes victories with Bellator, Aggression Fighting Championship and WSOF Canada. In February, the welterweight knocked out Joel Powell in the first round with a front kick.

No other bouts have been announced yet for WSOF 14, which will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network.
