WSOF 26: Lance Palmer Notes TAM Doesn’t Have a Head Coach Who “Knows The Game”, Following Loss

Lance Palmer believes he won his WSOF 26 bout with Alexandre Almeida last night, but following his defeat, the former champ has raised questions about Team Alpha Male’s coaching situation.

Palmer lost the featherweight title to Almeida via unanimous decision on Saturday, and afterwards, the TAM member insisted he had won the fight. WSOF President Ray Sefo also disagreed with the judge’s decision, and has said Palmer will receive an immediate rematch.

While speaking to the media afterwards, however, Palmer also said this about TAM’s coaching staff (quote via MMA Junkie.com).

“We don’t have a head coach who knows the game and has been in the game,” Palmer said, after noting the team has coaches for specific disciplines, but not a head coach. “Duane Ludwig was the best person we had at that, and not having him there has definitely made a difference. That’s just the way it is. People may be mad for saying that, but whether Duane – things outside of MMA – he’s a great coach despite whatever didn’t got right with him and Urijah (Faber), and that’s something that we have to look at, also.”

Palmer didn’t say he was leaving the team, and also cautioned the media not to “jump to conclusions”. The 27 year-old fighter and accomplished wrestler had won three straight bouts heading into the event.
