WSOF 9: Rousimar Palhares Takes Welterweight Belt With Quick Submission
By FCF Staff
Rousimar Palhares maybe well known throughout the MMA world for his infamous heel hooks, but the banned UFC fighter needed just over one minute to tap-out Steve Carl at WSOF 9 with the technique.
After Palhares quickly took Carl to the mat, the Brazilian dropped back for a leg lock as soon as he opened the now former champ’s guard. Moments later, Carl was forced to submit to a painful looking inverted heelhook, handing Palhares the welterweight belt in his promotional debut.
And in the co-main-event, Marlon Moraes battered a very determined and resilient Josh Rettinghouse for five rounds, and laid claim to the inaugural bantamweight title via UD.
