WSOF: Ryan Ford to Battle Joel Powell For Canadian Welterweight Title
By FCF Staff
World Series of Canada has announced that Bellator vet Ryan Ford will battle welterweight Joel Powell for the promotion’s Canadian title on February 21st. The bout will headline the upcoming event, which will be hosted by the Edmonton Expo Centre.
Ford (20-4) hasn’t fought since July, when he tapped out Michael Hill in the fifth round while fighting for Aggression Fighting Championship. The Tristar fighter has won five straight bouts.
Powell (7-3) is also coming off a win over Hill, as the Hamilton Muay Thai fighter earned a split decision win over him at AFC 18 last May. The only man to defeat Powell in his last five bouts is UFC vet Joe Doerksen.
The aforementioned Hill (6-2), who stopped Richard Arsenault at WSOF 7 in December, will fight Ryan Dickson (6-1) on February 21st.
On the undercard, former UFC heavyweight Tim Hague (15-8) will fight Lee Mein (6-12), who is the father and coach of UFC welterweight Jordan Mein.
