WWE Releases Statement Clarifying Brock Lesnar’s UFC Return

Brock Lesnar

By FCF Staff

The UFC has buzzed the MMA world by announcing Brock Lesnar is returning to the Octagon, but it looks like the heavyweight’s pro-wrestling days aren’t over just yet.

Not long after it was announced that Lesnar will fight an opponent to-be-determined at UFC 200 on July 9th, the WWE released the following statement:

Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200.  Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.

The 38 year-old Lesnar hasn’t fought since 2011, when he was stopped in the first round by Alistair Overeem. The former heavyweight champ negotiated with the UFC last year about a possible return to the cage, but he elected to resign with the WWE.
