Following his second win under the UFC banner on Saturday, Zabit Magomedsharipov is calling for a bout with Yair Rodriguez.
Magomedsharipov battled Sheymon Moraes at UFC Fight Night 122 yesterday in Shanghai, and submitted him with a highlight reel, anaconda choke. After the impressive win, the Dagestan fighter relayed the following through his translator (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I’ve proved myself in the top 15 at the least, and I believe I can give a fight to any (of the) top five in my division,” Magomedsharipov said. “If you ask me who I want to fight, I think I could fight against Yair Rodriguez. I want to fight with him because he’s a special striker, as well.”
With the victory yesterday, Magomedsharipov moved his overall record to 14-1. Rodriguez (10-2) hasn’t fought since May, when he was stopped by Frankie Edgar.
