Zach Light Sues Bellator For Wrongful Dismissal, Alleges Promotion Falsified Medical Records
By FCF Staff
Bellator’s former Talent Development Director, retired fighter Zach Light, is reportedly suing the promotion for wrongful dismissal. In addition, the suit alleges that Bellator committed unethical and illegal practices, including falsifying medical records.
According to a report from Bloody Elbow.com, the complaint alleges that Light was let go by the promotion: “having protested certain illegal practices jeopardizing the health and safety of professional fighters and mixed martial artists all for defendants’ profit and financial gain.”
According to the complaint, Bellator officials were allegedly aware that medical records of certain fighters had been forged or falsified, and that executives also pushed for match-ups that didn’t favor fighters of MMA manager Anthony McGann. The suit alleges that Bellator President Scott Coker had issues with McGann, and wanted to cut ties with him.
Light reports that he suffered an anxiety attack in 2015, and proceeded to take medical leave, after being diagnosed with severe depression. The suit claims Light was let go one week after he returned to his job, in March, 2016.
Bellator has yet to comment on the suit or the allegations.
