Prindle vs. Santos Heavyweight Final Confirmed For Bellator 62

After Eric Prindle was unable to fight Thiago Santos on March 16th due to flue like symptoms, fans won’t have to wait long to see the heavyweight tournament final, as Bellator has confirmed today that the bout will take place this Friday, March 23rd.

The finals, which will see the winner collect $100,000 and face heavyweight champion Cole Konrad, will be part of the Bellator 62 card in Laredo, Texas.

Friday’s bout will mark the second time Prindle and Santos have squared off, as their tilt in November was declared a no contest, after Prindle could not continue due to an accidental kick to the groin.

Prior to their Bellator 59 fight, Prindle (7-1) had worked his way into the tourney finals by scoring wins over Abe Wagner and Ron Sparks.

“I’m just ready to get into the cage and end this,” Prindle was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “I’m a warrior and want my shot against Konrad.”

Santos (10-1), who has gone undefeated in five straight bouts, earned an appearance in the finals by submitting Josh Burns and Neil Grove

“Now I’ve just got one more week to train and one more week to think about winning,” Santos said. “It sounds like Eric may have been sick, and I don’t want to fight with any excuses. I want to beat him at 100 percent.”

Bellator 62 will also feature the opening round of Bellator’s latest lightweight tourney, which includes Rene Nazare vs. Thiago Michel Pereira Silva, Rick Hawn vs. Ricardo Tirloni, J.J. Ambrose vs. Brent Weedman and Lloyd Woodard vs. Patricky Freire.

Friday’s card will be hosted by the Laredo Energy Center and will be broadcast live on MTV 2.
