It looks like Priscila Cachoeira will be sidelined for some time, following her one sided, submission loss to Valentina Shevchenko.

The flyweights fought in the co-headliner of UFC Fight Night 125, and Shevchenko dominated the action, until submitting Cachoeira with a second round, rear-naked-choke.

Since the bout, Cachoeira’s manager, Tiago Okamura told MMA Fighting the following:

“She tore her meniscus and ACL in the beginning of the first round, the first time they engaged, and it went all downhill from that moment,” Okamura said. “We couldn’t do anything.”

The fight’s referee, Mario Yamasaki, has come under fire for not stopping the one sided bout sooner. In the aforementioned story, Cachoeira’s cornerman, Giliard Parana, said they were not aware of how serious the fighter’s injury was during the contest.

The loss was Cachoeira’s first of her pro career, as the Brazilian had won 8 straight prior to facing Shevchenko.
