Pulver Says He’s "Ready to Rumble" in UFO

TOKYO, Japan — Former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver will take a lot of confidence into his first-ever bout out of the country here Thursday at the Tokyo Dome.
"I’ve showed everybody in America that I’m the best lightweight fighter in the world… now, I’m here to prove it to the Japanese fans," Pulver said at the UFO press conference on Tuesday.
Pulver retired the UFC belt after going 6-0-1 in the most prestigeous MMA organization in the U.S. He was 3-0 in title fights.
"I’ve always wanted to fight in Japan," Pulver said. "This is a dream come true and I hope to make the most of it."
Pulver, who is 27-2-1 overall, will fight Takehiro Murahama in the first-ever UFO event. The show will be televised live from 7-9:30 p.m. on Nippon-TV… the first-ever live network coverage in Japan.
Pulver has been attracting a lot of attention from the Japanese media since he defeated Caol Uno for the UFC lightweight championship. This week has been no different as he has spent much of his pre-fight time giving interviews and posing for pictures.
"I hope to return to the UFC some day, but right now I’m really enjoying the attention in Japan," Pulver said. "Man, these are the greatest fans in the world… I only wish we could get the same treatment in the U.S."
Pulver is being cornered by Miletich Martial Arts teammate Jeremy Horn, who is familiar with Japan after multiple bouts in Pride and RINGS.
