Quote of the Day: Dana White on GSP’s UFC 154 Return “The King of Pay-Per-View is Back”
By FCF Staff
UFC President Dana White has said for some time that the promotion’s welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre is the company’s top pay-per-view draw, and despite being on the sidelines for over a year, that evidently hasn’t changed. When asked on today’s UFC on FOX 5 media call on how St. Pierre’s recent return at UFC 154 drew in terms of PPV buys, White responded by saying:
“The king of pay-per-view is back, let’s put it that way.”
White also relayed that “GSP delivered again” and that the recent event, which saw St. Pierre hand Carlos Condit a unanimous decision loss, “was awesome” for the UFC.
The ZUFFA executive was also asked whether there’s been any progress in terms of putting together an all-star bout between St. Pierre and UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva, but White said he hasn’t spoke to either man since November 17th.
Recently St. Pierre relayed on a French Canadian television show that a bout with Silva would require him to bulk up and leave the welterweight division, and that he is interested in the fight, but only when the “time is right.”
