After a torn bicep forced Yves Edwards to withdraw from his scheduled May 15h bout with Donald Cerrone, the well traveled vet has relayed to FCF that his doctor has cleared him to fight  as soon as August.

When asked to comment on his status, Edwards responded that his “arm is almost back to one hundred percent” and that further, he is in the “last stages of rehab.”

The 35 year-old-veteran added that he is waiting to hear from the UFC, in terms of when and who he will fight next.

Edwards (41-18) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to former TUF winner Tony Ferguson in December, after stopping Rafaello Oliveira in the second round at a UFC Live card in October.

The “Thugjitsu Master” is 3-2 in his last five fights, with additional wins coming over Cody McKenzie and John Gunderson, and a KO defeat taking place versus Sam Stout.

When FCF spoke with Edwards in April, about having to spend much of 2012 on the sidelines due to the injury, the lightweight commented:

“I don’t like it. That’s for sure,” Edwards noted. “I’m not one of those guys that like’s to take a bunch of time off to rest or whatever. I’m having too much fun. I absolutely love doing this. Even if I didn’t have to fight I’d still be training… Having to sit on my but has allowed me to sit back and think. That’s the part of it that has been good. It’s given me some time to evaluate some of the things I’ve been doing or not doing.”
