Registration Opens For 2019 IMMAF-WMMAA Oceania Open Championships

By Press Release

[London. 23 January 2019] As athlete registration opens today for the 2019 IMMAF-WMMAA Oceania Open Championships, elite mixed martial arts amateurs from around the world are invited to apply to their National Federations to take part.

Hosted by the New Zealand MMA Federation at the Eventfinda Stadium in Auckland, the MMA tournament will span two days from 13 to 14 April, and present opportunities for competitors across sixteen weight divisions (from Atomweight to Lightweight for women, and Strawweight to Super Heavyweight for men).

The Continental Championships is the international governing body’s third in Oceania, with the previous two taking place in Australia. Participation in all IMMAF – WMMAA tournaments accrue points for individuals and national teams in the IMMAF – WMMAA Amateur MMA Rankings providing the opportunity for seeding and priority placement in flagship tournaments.

IMMAF – WMMAA Championships Manager, Alistair Pettitt, said:

“I’m looking forward to returning to Oceania to New Zealand. New Zealand has consistently provided IMMAF- WMMAA with world champions and medallists, as well as world-class officials; and so for such a small country, it is certainly punching above its weight. IMMAF- WMMAA is very much looking forward to helping the development of the sport in New Zealand by holding its Oceania Open Championships in Auckland.”

For further information athletes should contact their local National Federation.
