Renato Moicano Outlines Why He Sees Conor McGregor Beating Michael Chandler
By FCF Staff
It remains to be seen if and when Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler fight. But, if the two stars square off, Renato Moicano believes McGregor will likely return to the win column.
Following months of speculation regarding when the TUF coaches will fight, more recently, McGregor reported once again the bout will take place this summer. Moicano was a recent guest on “The MMA Hour”, and when asked for his call on the fight, the Brazilian outlined why he thinks McGregor will win (quotes via MMA Fighting.com).
“I like McGregor in the fight,” Moicano said. “I could be wrong, right? McGregor, [for a] long time he didn’t fight, we have the leg injury and stuff. But at the same time, I think Chandler is the opponent to make McGregor shine, right? Because I don’t think he’s going to take McGregor down, just because he doesn’t shoot for wrestling. He’s a wrestler, but we don’t see him [use it]. We see him brawling. And because he’s so short and McGregor was so precise, I think he could get the knockout against Chandler.”
The 35-year-old McGregor (22-6) hasn’t fought since June, 2021, when he broke his leg in a rubber match with Dustin Poirier.
The 37-year-old Chandler (23-8) last competed in November, 2022, and was submitted by Poirier.
Moicano (18-5-1), meanwhile, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Drew Dober in February. The 34-year-old is scheduled to fight Jailin Turnerm at UFC 300, April 13th.
