It appears as though Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s wish to compete at the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s upcoming February 26th event in Japan has been granted. According to a report today from ESPN.com, the former light-heavyweight champion will return to the nation that helped launch his career, and will fight former TUF winner Ryan Bader.

Earlier in the week, Jackson took to his Twitter account to post his dissatisfaction about the fact that he believed he wouldn’t be fighting at UFC 144, despite his recent requests. Later, the charismatic fighter tweeted that he had “the best managers in the business,” and that further, “this thing will work out.”

Although the UFC has not yet announced the fight, and Jackson has not commented on the recent report via Twitter, Bader retweeted a post announcing the reported match-up.

Jackson (32-9) is coming off a fourth round, submission loss to light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones in September, after earning a unanimous decision win over Matt Hamill in May.

The 33 year-old fighter competed in Japan throughout much of the early to mid 90’s and became one of the now defunct Pride promotion’s biggest stars.

Bader (13-2) fought at the recent UFC 139 card and quickly knocked out Jason Brilz in the first round. The victory ended the 28 year-old light-heavyweight’s two fight losing skid, which included defeats at the hands of Jones and more recently Tito Ortiz.

UFC 144, which will be hosted by the Saitama Super Arena, will be headlined by a lightweight bout between champion Frankie Edgar and former WEC champ Ben Henderson.
