Just a few weeks before Alistair Overeem is set to make his UFC debut against Brock Lesnar on December 30th, news has surfaced today reporting that the former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion is suing his previous management team. According to a report from TMZ.com, Overeem has filed a lawsuit against Golden Glory in a Los Angeles Court, claiming that the company owes the feared striker $151,000 in previous earnings.

The TMZ story also reports that, according to the lawsuit, Overeem signed a contract with Golden Glory that paid the management team 35% of his pre-tax earnings, and alleges that the company pressured him to fight when he wasn’t healthy. The suit is reportedly seeking to break the aforementioned contract.

FCF was unable to immediately reach a Golden Glory representative to comment on the report.

In the latest episode of “The Reem,” an online documentary series featuring Overeem, the fighter discussed his recent departure from Golden Glory. Overeem reported that issues arose with Golden Glory during the recent contract negotiations that led to his UFC signing, but did not offer any specific details.

Overeem announced in September that he had split from Golden Glory, citing differences and a “breach of trust.” When contact by FCF at that time, Golden Glory manager Bas Boon stated that he was fine with the fighter’s decision, as long as the heavyweight honored his contract with the company.

The former K-1 champion signed a contract with the UFC this fall, shortly after Overeem was released by fellow Zuffa property Strikeforce, due to a reported dispute regarding scheduling and how Golden Glory collected payment for its fighters.

Overeem will make his Octagon debut next month having gone undefeated in his last 11 fights.
