Report: Anderson Silva Also Failed Fight Night Drug Tests

Anderson Silva

By FCF Staff

Anderson Silva failed more than one drug test related to his UFC 183 bout with Nick Diaz, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission,

Last month it was revealed that Silva allegedly tested positive for steroids in pre-fight drug test, leading up to his January 31st bout with Nick Diaz. Not long after, it was reported that Silva passed a second, out-of-competition test.

On Tuesday, however, the NSAC confirmed that Silva allegedly tested positive for Drostanolone metabolites, as well as Oxazepam and Temazepam in fight day drug tests. News of the Silva’s test results were reported by MMA Junkie.com. Oxazepam and Temazepam are drugs that are reportedly used to treat anxiety and insomnia respectively.

Following the news of Silva’s first, failed drug test, the legendary fighter denied using PEDs. In Silva’s first, pre-fight drug test, he allegedly tested positive for drostanolone metabolites and androstane.

The Commission is holding a meeting today to discuss Silva’s situation, and the fighter will likely be temporarily suspended, and then called to appear in front of the NSAC in the coming weeks.

Silva recorded a unanimous decision victory over Diaz at UFC 183.
