Anderson Silva will return to the Octagon at UFC 183, and according to all accounts, the legend is firing on all cylinders as his bout with Nick Diaz approaches.
Case in point, a new video clip has surfaced, which shows Silva blasting a sparring partner with a flying knee, and then following up with punches. The clip was reportedly posted by Brazil’s Globo first.
According to a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, the sparring partner is Team Nogueira’s Douglas Moura. The report also includes comments from Team Alliance’s Alexander Gustafsson and Phil Davis, who questioned whether the footage may have been staged.
Silva hasn’t fought since December, 2013, when he broke his leg while facing middleweight champion Chris Weidman. The former champion will face Diaz on January 31st.
(Update: in a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, Moura relayed that he wasn’t knocked out by Silva, and that he was just “dizzy.” The fighter also said that Silva didn’t punch “for real” once he realized he was having difficulties)
