Anderson Silva has made it clear that he intends to fight in the Octagon again, but now the injured fighter has relayed he’d like to step into the boxing ring first.

Silva has talked about his desire to box Roy Jones Jr. extensively over the years, and the decorated pugilist has made it be known he’d love to take on the MMA legend. Well, according to a new report from MMA Fighting.com, Silva had this to say about boxing Jones Jr. recently via Facebook.

“When I get better, that’s my biggest goal, especially because I won’t be able to fight MMA too soon,” Silva said. “Fighting in boxing is in my plans, yes, as soon as I’m able to fight again. And Roy is a big idol.”

The 38 year-old fighter continues to recover from the broken leg he incurred versus middleweight champ Chris Weidman, at UFC 168 last month. While UFC President Dana White has previously said he’d like to green light Silva’s wish to box Jones Jr., it remains to be seen if the proposed bout will ever take place.

Silva (33-6) also added that he wants to get back to fighting “as soon as possible” despite the reservations and concerns of his family. The gruesome loss followed Silva’s knockout defeat to Weidman in July.
