Anderson Silva

By FCF Staff

Approximately three months out from a scheduled bout with Nick Diaz, former UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva, has reportedly been hospitalized due to back pain.

Silva was apparently sent to a hospital in Rio de Janeiro on Monday, after he experienced severe pain in his lower back and numbness in his legs. According to a report from Brazili’s Globo, Silva was released and his doctor does not believe the incident will affect his ability to fight at UFC 183.

Diaz and Silva are set to fight on January 31st, at a venue to be determined in Las Vegas.

The 39 year-old Silva will be fighting for the first time since last December, when he broke his leg while fighting middleweight champ Chris Weidman.
