After news broke yesterday that Jose Aldo has injured his rib while training, his coach is reporting that the decision will be made on Thursday, as to whether the featherweight champ will still fight Conor McGregor, July 11th.

Yesterday it was reported that Aldo fractured his rib during a sparring session, and as a result, his highly anticipated bout with McGregor is in jeopardy. In a follow up report from Combate, Aldo’s coach Andre Pedeneiras reported that the champion is in considerable pain, and is extremely upset about what’s happened.

Pedeneiras (according to translation through MMA Fighting.com), says the decision will made as whether Aldo can still fight on Thursday, when he receives his test results and consults with his doctors.

Pedeneiras added that the if fractured rib is confirmed, he believes Aldo will not be able to fight until October.

UFC 189 is set to take place on July 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada. A welterweight fight between champion Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald is also booked for the event.
