It was reported after UFC 169 Saturday that Anthony Pettis called Dana White to relay he’s down for a bout with Jose Aldo, and in a follow up report, the lightweight champ has repeated that desire.

Following Aldo’s unanimous decision win over Ricardo Lamas this weekend, the featherweight champ said he wants to move up to 155 pounds and challenge Pettis. It’s a match-up that was supposed to take place last August at 145 pounds, however, an injury to Pettis scratched the bout.

In a story by MMA Junkie.com on Monday, Pettis had this to say about the possibility of fighting Aldo next: “Of course I want that fight Why wouldn’t I?”

Pettis went on to add that since Benson Henderson just defeated Josh Thomson, and that Gilbert Melendez already has fought for the title, “why not (Aldo)?”

White stated on Saturday that the promotion would like to book Pettis-Aldo, if the latter was willing to move up to 155.

Pettis is still recovering from a knee injury and surgery, which prevented him from fighting Thomson in December.
