It remains to be seen where and who Fedor Emelianeko will fight, now that the former PRIDE champ is returning to the cage, but Bas Rutten believes the legend’s comeback should take place at 205.

Recently it was confirmed that Emelianenko has decided to fight again, after the 38 year-old walked away from the sport back in 2012. Over the years, many observers have wondered how “The Last Emperor” would perform at light-heavyweight, considering the Russian star was small for the heavyweight class.

Recently Rutten appeared on “Submission Radio“, and while discussing Emelianenko’s pending return, he relayed the following (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“205? Well, yea. If [Jon Jones] comes back, he’s an animal, too. When I think about Fedor I see him just crushing people in Japan. If I think about him coming back because maybe he had injuries and those were the reasons that he started losing? I don’t know. If I picture that Fedor coming back I think sky’s the limit for him.

“Even [against] a Jon Jones. I don’t know. He always finds a way to win.”

Jones was stripped of the UFC’s light-heavyweight title following his arrest on felony hit-and-run charges. Due to Jones’ legal issues, it’s unclear as to when the fighter might return to competition.

Prior to his retirement, Emelianenko went 3-0 while competing for M-1 Global, after going 1-3 with Strikeforce.
