(Updated) Report: Bellator 123’s Ratings Not Far Behind UFC FN 50’s

Both the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Bellator held events on Friday night, in the same state nonetheless, and neither promotion dominated the other in terms of ratings.

According to figures that were sent to Full Contact Fighter by Bellator’s broadcasting partner SPIKE, the promotion’s September 5th card averaged 667,000 viewers. From 10PM to 10:45 the card reportedly drew 718,000 viewers.

In the headliner, Patricio “Pitbull” decisioned Pat Curran to become featherweight champion.

UFC Fight Night 50, which was broadcast on FOX Sports 1, averaged 911,000 viewers (according to numbers released by the network). The card peaked at 1, 068,000 during the main event, which saw “Jacare” Souza submit Gegard Mousasi in round three.

Bellator 123 went down at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut and UFC FN 50 was hosted by the Foxwoods Casino Resort in nearby Ledyard.

(Update: according to a follow up email from SPIKE, the Bellator 123 broadcast peaked at 8:34 PM with 979,000 viewers)
