Report: Benson Henderson Plans to Test Free Agent Waters Following UFC FN 79 Win

Benson Henderson earned a victory in what was the final deal of his UFC contract today, and afterwards, the former lightweight champ confirmed he plans to test the free agent market.

Henderson worked his way to a split decision win over Jorge Masvidal at UFC FN 79, and in doing, recorded his second straight victory at 170. Leading up to the bout it was reported it was the final fight of Henderson’s current UFC contract.

While speaking to MMA Junkie.com after the card, Henderson had this to say, when asked about his plans:

“When I retire, it will be retiring in the UFC – I know that for sure. But I’m going to test the market, yes.”

With today’s win, which took place in Seoul, South Korea, Henderson moved his record to 23-5.
