Report: Bibiano Fernandes Skipped For ONE FC Title Fight Due to Family Obligations
Leandro Issa Fighting Soo Chul Kim For Bantamweight Belt
By FCF Staff
Although Bibiano Fernandes scored a unanimous decision win over Gustavo Falciroli in his ONE FC debut last month, the decorated fighter was not tapped for ONE FC’s upcoming bantamweight title fight. Instead, Leandro Issa will reportedly challenge Soo Chul Kim for the belt, October 6th in Singapore.
According to the promotion’s CEO Victor Cui, Fernandes was skipped over for the bout because he is expecting another child. Cui relayed to AsianMMA.com that as a result, the fighter’s focus will be on his family for the coming months.
Issa (10-2) is coming off a UD win over feared submission artist Masakazu Imanari at ONE FC’s recent “Pride of a Nation” card.
Kim (6-4) also scored a unanimous decision victory that night, as he defeated Kevin Bellingon to record his second straight win.
The upcoming “Rise of Kings” card will feature former DREAM lightweight champ Shinya Aoki versus Arnaud LePont.
