Report: Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo III Nearly Finalized
By FCF Staff
It looks like a trilogy fight between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo is going to happen a lot sooner than expected, as it’s being reported the two have agreed to battle in December.
After Moreno (19-5-2) took the flyweight title from Figueiredo (20-2-1) in June, by submitting the dangerous fighter, the expectation was he’d face Alexandre Pantoja next. The latter has defeated Moreno twice.
But, ESPN is reporting that Pantoja is recovering from a knee injury, and will be unable to fight again this year. As a result, the UFC is targeting Moreno – Figueiredo III for UFC 269, December 11th.
Both fighters have reportedly agreed to the match-up, but contracts have yet to be finalized.
In their first encounter, last December, the two battled to a majority draw. The fight was widely considered as one of the year’s best.
A location for UFC 269 has yet to be determined. The card will also feature Amanda Nunes defending the bantamweight title against Julianna Pena.
