Report: Brandon Vera vs. Ben Rothwell In Works For UFC 164
By FCF Staff
UFC 164 could feature Brandon Vera returning to heavyweight, as the veteran fighter will reportedly battle Ben Rothwell at the August 31st event, which will take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
According to a report from MMA Junkie.com, multiple sources have told the outlet that Rothwell will fight Vera on that date. The UFC has not made any announcement regarding the reported bout.
Vera (12-6) is coming off a fourth round, stoppage loss to former light-heavyweight champ “Shogun” Rua at UFC on FOX 4 last August, after scoring a unanimous decision win over Eliot Marshall at UFC 137. Vera hasn’t competed at heavyweight since 2008.
Rothwell (32-9) was also defeated in his last outing, as the Wisconsin fighter was submitted by Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC on FX 7 this past January. Prior to that he knocked out Brendan Schaub at UFC 145 last August.
