Top ranked featherweight Chad Mendes won’t have any legal issues affecting his training camp for a December bout with Hacran Dias, as a battery charge filed against him has been dropped by authorities in Hanford, California. Instead, Mendes has reportedly pleaded no contest to one count of public disturbance, stemming from an incident at a bar this past July

According to multiple reports, Mendes was forced to pay a fine due to his plea. Originally, the 27 year-old vet was facing up to six months in jail, due to the battery charge. Mendes had been accused of punching a patron during a bar fight and then fleeing the scene.

Mendes and his representatives have disputed the reported series of events from the onset.

The 12-1 fighter is scheduled to face Dias on December 14th at the UFC on FX 6 card in Gold Coast, Australia, next.

In July, Mendes knocked out Cody McKenzie at UFC 148, after being stopped by featherweight champion Jose Aldo in January.
