Report: Chael Sonnen Has no Plans For Comeback

Chael Sonnen

By FCF Staff

Chael Sonnen will eligble to return to the cage in 2016, but the former middleweight contender says he has no plans to fight again.

Sonnen was suspended for two years by the Nevada Commission in 2014, after testing positive for performance-enhancing-drugs. Although the 38 year-old announced he was hanging up the gloves at that juncture, there’s been a lot of speculation as to whether the star might launch a comeback.

Recently Sonnen appeared on the “The MMA Hour”, and Sonnen said this, when asked if plans to fight again (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I am not coming back,” Sonnen said. “I am not putting a toe in the water. I don’t know how to speak any more clear.”

“The American Gangster” is still active in MMA industry, however, as Sonnen is a commentator for WSOF and hosts the “You’re Welcome” podcast.

Sonnen hasn’t fought since 2013 when he was stopped by Rashad Evans.
