Report: Chael Sonnen Will Not Appeal Second Loss to Anderson Silva

Sonnen

By FCF Staff

In keeping with the statements he made at the post-fight press conference Saturday night, Chael Sonnen will reportedly not file an appeal to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, regarding his stoppage loss to Anderson Silva.

Since the much discussed and debated knee from Silva, which appeared to land first on Sonnen’s chest while he was on the ground, there has been speculation as to whether the fighter’s camp would launch an appeal.

According to reports, however, Sonnen reiterated on FUEL TV Tuesday night that he recognizes the decision of referee Yves Lavigne, and that further his “judgement is what stands.”

At the post UFC 148 presser Sonnen relayed that he did not care if the knee was legal or not, when asked to comment on the fight turning strike.

The knee from Silva came after Sonnen failed to land a spinning back-fist and fell to the ground.

Prior to Sonnen’s appearance on FUEL TV, coach Scott McQuarry told MMA Junkie that the camp was in fact going to appeal the fight’s stoppage.

The charismatic and outspoken fighter also relayed that he is going to take some time to consider what’s next for him, but reportedly shot down rumors that he’s considering a move to professional wrestling.
