Report: Chan Sung Jung’s MMA Career on Hold for Two Years
By FCF Staff
It looks as though the fighting career of Chan Sung Jung has been put on hold for two more years, as the popular UFC featherweight has been told to complete his mandatory military service for his native South Korea.
Jung, or “The Korean Zombie” as he’s widely known, reportedly announced the news via his official Facebook page. The 27 year-old fighter’s manager, Brian Rhee, has also confirmed Jung’s situation to media outlets.
“TKZ” hasn’t competed since August, 2013, when he was stopped by champion Jose Aldo in the first round. Jung incurred a shoulder injury during the bout and was sidelined for much of 2014. The rugged fighter was scheduled to fight Akira Corassanni at UFC Fight Night 53 earlier this month, but was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Jung is currently ranked #6 in the UFC’s 145 division.
