Recently Chris Weidman announced that he’s returning to the middleweight division, and it looks like contender Jack Hermansson will be his next opponent.

The former middleweight champ moved up to 205 last year, but in October, Weidman was stopped by Dominick Reyes. More recently the decorated wrestler said he’s planning to fight at 185 next, and ESPN is reporting a May 2nd bout with Hermansson is nearly signed.

Prior to his fight with Reyes, Weidman (14-5) was KO’d by “Jacare” Souza in 2018. The “All-American” is 1-4 in his last 5 contests.

Hermansson (20-5) is coming off a stoppage loss to Jared Cannonier in September, which snapped his four-fight, winning streak.

Weidman – Hermansson is expected to headline a May 2nd card at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
