After being on the sidelines for over two years, former UFC middleweight champ, Chris Weidman, reportedly has his next fight set.

Weidman has not competed since April, 2021, when he broke his leg during a bout with Uriah Hall. Now, it’s being reported that Weidman will battle Brad Tavares at UFC 292, which will take place on August 19th in Boston.

Newsday reported the match-up first and MMA Junkie has also confirmed the fight with sources.

The 38-year-old Weidman (15-6) was coming off a decision win over Omari Akhmedov when he faced Hall. That victory followed consecutive, knockout losses to “Jacare” Souza and Dominick Reyes.

Tavares (19-8) competed in April and was stopped by Bruno Silva in round one. The 35-year-old is 2-3 in his last five fights.

UFC 292 is expected to feature bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling versus Sean O’Malley in the headliner.
