After having a fight with Jack Hermansson fall through last month, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s being reported Chris Weidman will face Omari Akhmedov next.

The former middleweight champion hasn’t competed since last October, when Weidman was KO’d by light-heavyweight contender, Dominick Reyes.

According to an initial report from TASS, and a follow up report from MMA Junkie, Weidman and Akhmedov have agreed to fight August 8th. A venue and location has yet to be announced for the event, but it’s expected to take place in Las Vegas.

Weidman (14-5) is looking to get back on track, as the decorated wrestler has lost four of his last five fights

Akhmedov (20-4-1), meanwhile, has won three in a row and scored a decision win over Ian Heinisch in his last outing.
