Report: CSAC Confirms Nick Diaz Behind New Promotion

Nick Diaz

By FCF Staff

Nick Diaz has consistently relayed over the years that he doesn’t care for the unified MMA rules-set and how fights are scored, and now it appears the top ranked welterweight is going to oversee his own promotion.

Earlier on Monday, reports surfaced that Diaz is behind a new promotion titled War MMA, which has a “coming soon” page up at nickdiazpromotions.com. MMA Junkie.com has also confirmed with the California State Athletic Commission that Diaz and his younger brother Nate have applied for a promoter’s license in the state.

If approved, Diaz will still have to complete other procedures, like filing financial statements etc, before a War MMA card could be held.

It’s an interesting turn of events for Diaz, who following his unanimous decision loss to UFC champion Georges St. Pierre in March, said he was retiring from fighting unless he received a rematch or a bout with Anderson Silva.
