Tyron Woodley has impressed in several of his UFC bouts to date, but following his clear cut, decision loss to Rory MacDonald on Saturday, Dana White believes the fighter had an issue coping with pressure.

Woodley was outscored by MacDonald at UFC 174, and following the event, here is what White had to say about his performance (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“He choked in the big fight tonight, man,” White relayed to FOX Sports 1. “He needed to come out and try to rip that head off in the third round, and he didn’t even do that. He threw a few punches, missed and didn’t knock him out and just sort of set back into the way he fought in the rest of the fight.”

White event went on to add that “It seems like he chokes in the big fights.”

Woodley had worked his way into the top five rankings (#3), thanks to wins over Jay Hieron, Carlos Condit and Josh Koscheck, but now it remains to be seen if he’ll retain that position.

The accomplished wrestler has also been defeated by Jake Shields and Nate Marquardt since turning pro.

MacDonald, meanwhile, has won two straights since he was decisioned by Robbie Lawler, and is currently ranked #2.
