Although Dana White initially expressed interest in booking a rematch between Anderson Silva and newly crowned middleweight champ Chris Weidman for Super Bowl Weekend next February, word has surfaced today that the UFC President is now considering having it take place on December 28th.

According to a tweet from L.A. Times writer Lance Pugmire, White has relayed that he’s thinking about promoting the rematch at UFC 168. The main event that’s currently booked for that card features a rematch between bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate. MMA Junkie.com is also reporting that a source with the UFC has confirmed White’s considerations.

Immediately following his stunning, knockout loss to Weidman at UFC 162, however, Silva said he’s not interested in fighting the undefeated middleweight again. At the post fight press conference, the 38 year-old star stated that he plans on taking some time to determine what he wants to do next. White believes Silva will change his mind, and will eventually want to avenge the defeat.

Weidman caught Silva with a left hook in round two, and then finished the legend off with follow up strikes, right after the former champ taunted him by keeping his hands down below his waist. The defeat ended Silva’s historic 17 fight winning streak.
