UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre

UFC President Dana White says a superfight between UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre could materialize as early as next spring, despite recent comments from Silva that relayed he intends to take most of 2013 off.

While appearing on ESPN “Sports Center”, White reportedly said the bout could take place in May, 2013, provided of course that St. Pierre defeats Carlos Condit this Saturday at UFC 154 (according to a report from MMA Junkie).

In a recent interview with the Brazilian publication Tatame.com, Silva stated that personal projects and business opportunities will likely keep him out of action until later in 2013.

In addition, the middleweight champ shot down the idea that he will challenge St. Pierre in the Octagon Saturday, provided GSP wins. In a recent media call, White confirmed that Silva would be attending UFC 154 and agreed that a post-fight challenge was a possibility.

If the superfight happens, White has also confirmed that the fight will take place in a stadium sized venue, and that cities like Toronto, Dallas or a Brazilian venue are possibilities.
