Report: Dana White Says More Women’s Divisions in the UFC Likely
By FCF Staff
After expressing concerns for some time as to whether there’s enough high level, women’s fighters to promote several different divisions in the UFC, the promotion’s president Dana White continues to embrace women’s MMA.
After introducing a women’s bantamweight division earlier this year, and crowning the promotion’s first female champ Ronda Rousey, more divisions could be on the way according to White. While speaking with MMA Junkie, White relayed that as the women’s side of the sport continues to grow–just as the promotion did with the men–more women’s divisions will be introduced
It may take some time, however, as White added “I think when you got into the 135-pound division, I knew there were enough fights for a year and a half, two years.”
This past Saturday, Cat Zingano stopped Miesha Tate the TUF 17 Finale, and will coach opposite Rousey in the upcoming season of TUF, which will also feature women fighters. Zingano will battle Rousey after the season concludes.
