Report: Dana White Says New Ten Fight Deal With Anderson Silva is Set

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva

By FCF Staff

Earlier in December some eyebrows were raised when UFC President Dana White reported that Anderson Silva had approached him about signing a new 10 fight contract, and now the deal appears to be done.

While speaking after last night’s UFC 155 contract, White confirmed that the middleweight champion has “signed a ten fight deal”, according to a report by MMA Weekly. No terms of the agreement were included.

The contract likely means that the 37 year-old Silva (33-4) will ends his career with the promotion. The legendary fighter competed twice in 2012 and stopped former middleweight contender Chael Sonnen, before taking a bout at light-heavyweight and finishing Stephan Bonnar.

In the past, Silva expressed doubts as to whether he would continue to compete late into his 30’s, leading some to believe the fighter’s days with the promotion could be numbered. A new, 10 fight deal, however, could mean that Silva continues to compete in the Octagon for another four or five years.
