Report: Dana White Says Progress Being Made in Signing Ronda Rousey, “Cyborg” Santos Fight
By FCF Staff
With many throughout the MMA world hoping to see an all-star bout between Ronda Rousey and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos come to fruition, it appears as though UFC President Dana White is stepping up his efforts to make the bout happen.
While speaking after last night’s UFC on FX card in Minneapolis, according to a report from MMA Junkie, White relayed that progress was being made in terms of signing the bout. The UFC President also wouldn’t outright dismiss the possibility of the fight taking place under the UFC banner, which is also almost certainly a match that Showtime–Strikeforce’s broadcast partner– would like to showcase.
Of course, the former Strikeforce featherweight champ Santos won’t be available to compete until next year, when her suspension for a positive test for stanozolol is over.
There is also the matter of what weight the fight would take place at, as Strikeforce’s bantamweight champ has said she wants Santos to move down to her weight class. Santos has continually stated that she can’t make 135 pounds.
