Despite a recent night on the town with Nate Diaz, Dana White is reporting that the UFC still isn’t close on reaching a new deal with the disgruntled fighter.

Diaz has been out of action since last November, when he stopped Gray Maynard in the opening round. Since the win, Diaz and his camp have made it clear that they’re not happy with the lightweight’s current contract. White has repeatedly argued that Diaz is paid what he’s currently worth.

Well, following UFC Fight Night 48 in Macao, China, White revealed that he recently spent time with Diaz, while he took the cast of TUF 20 out for the night. While discussing where things stand with Diaz now, the UFC President relayed (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“You know, we were out having fun, we talked business for a little while. We got together in a room, and where he is and where we are, we’re not even close. But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’ve always liked Nate Diaz, I’ve always had a great relationship with Nate Diaz. It’s not like I don’t like the kid and he’s hard to deal with. He’s just got something in his head and we’ve got something else in our head.”

The 29 year-old vet is 3-2 in his last 5 fights and 6-4 in his last 10.
