Report: Daniel Cormier Incurred Torn Cornea in Loss to Stipe Miocic
By FCF Staff
Following his loss to Stipe Miocic at UFC 252, Daniel Cormier reported that his vision had been seriously compromised due to an eye poke he incurred in the third round. Since then, it’s been reported that the former champ did incur some significant damage to his left eye.
Cormier sustained a torn cornea in his left eye according to a follow-up report from ESPN’s Ariel Helwani. The 41-year-old will not have to undergo surgery yet. But, surgery could be a possibility down the line depending on how Cormier’s recovery goes.
Cormier lost the fight to Miocic via unanimous decision. In 2018, the decorated wrestler ended Miocic’s first reign as heavyweight champ by scoring a first round knockout. Miocic reclaimed the title last August by stopping Cormier in round four.
