By FCF Staff
There has been no shortage of speculation as to who Daniel Cormier will fight next, after making a successful light-heavyweight debut in February, and according to a report it could be Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante.
Cormier was scheduled to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 170 last month, but after the latter injured his knee, Patrick Cummins was brought in. Cormier stopped his former training partner in the first round.
Well, in the latest edition of “UFC Tonight”, the show’s Ariel Helwani reported that he’s “hearing” Cormier will fight Cavalcante July 5th. “Feijao” hasn’t fought since November when he stopped Igor Pokrajac.
The report also relayed that welterweight Demian Maia will fight Mike Pierce, May 31st at the promotion’s card in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
Maia is coming off consecutive decision losses to Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald.
Pierce, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since he was injured by Rousimar Palhares’ prolonged heel hook at UFC FN 29 in October. Prior to the defeat Pierce had won four straight.
