As Demian Maia’s impressive career winds down, it’s being reported that the perennial contender has agreed to fight Belal Muhammad next.

The 43-year-old Maia (28-10) had a three-fight winning streak snapped by Gilbert Burns in his last outing, as he was KO’d by the latter in March, 2020. ESPN is reporting that Maia and Muhammad have verbally agreed to fight at the June 12th, UFC 263 card.

A location for the pay-per-view event has yet to be determined.

The 32-year-old Muhammad (18-3, 1 NC) recently had a four-fight winning streak halted in a fight with Leon Edwards, March 13th. Muhammad could not continue after being accidentally poked in the eye and the fight was declared a no-contest.

UFC 263 will be headlined by a rematch between flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno. Their thrilling fight in December was declared a majority draw.
