Report: Deputy Attorney to Review Whether Jon Jones Lied at NSAC Hearing

Jon Jones

By FCF Staff

Jon Jones has been in the headlines the last couple of days due to the news that he’s tested positive for cocaine metabolites, but his issues regarding a recent hearing with the Nevada Commission aren’t over either.

Jones recently apologized to Nike, for how he relayed to the Nevada State Athletic Commission back in September, that his brawl with Daniel Cormier had cost him his sponsorship deal with the company. Shortly before UFC 182, Jones said he misspoke at the hearing, and that in fact, he and Nike had already agreed to end the deal. The incident with Cormier only hastened the agreement’s conclusion.

Jones has since argued that he didn’t perjure himself at the hearing, because he still lost money, since his Nike deal ended sooner than scheduled. According to a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, however, NSAC executive director Bob Bennett has confirmed that the state’s deputy attorney is going to review whether Jones lied at the hearing.

Jones was ultimately fined $50,000 and sentenced to 40 hours of community service for the part he played in his well documented brawl with Cormier.
