Former UFC champ Dominick Cruz, who hasn’t fought now since October, 2011, is reportedly eyeing late August or September for his 21st pro bout.

The bantamweight, who was forced to vacate the title earlier this year due to yet another injury, is apparently hoping to fight Takeya Mizugaki. News of Cruz’s return and wish to fight Mizugaki was reported on the latest edition of “UFC Tonight.”

According to the show’s Ariel Helwani, Mizugaki’s camp is very interested in the bout. The latter, who has won five straight, is coming off ear surgery and would be ready to fight in September.

Cruz was set to face Renan Barao at UFC 169 on February 1st, but a groin injury forced him to the sidelines. The 28 year-old fighter has undergone two knee surgeries since 2011.
