Report: Dominick Cruz Says There’s “No Question” he Can be “Stronger Than Ever” After Latest ACL Injury

Dominick Cruz

Following the devastating news that Dominick Cruz has been sidelined once again with an ACL injury, the former UFC champ sounds as confident as ever that he’ll return to the Octagon.

Earlier this week, Cruz announced that he’s injured the ACL in his right knee, which is not the same one that he’s torn twice before. As a result of the two surgeries he required on his left knee, and a follow up groin injury earlier this year, Cruz did not fight in 2012, 2013, and most of this year.

The 29 year-old recently spoke about the setback on a media call, and here is some of what he had to say while discussing a comeback (quote via MMA Fighting.com)

“Why can’t I do it?” Cruz said. “Why can’t I come back and be stronger than ever? There’s no question I can do it, in my mind.”

“It’s another mountain to climb. I’m fully capable of handling this mountain,” Cruz reportedly added during the call. “I have all the tools, I have the age and I have the mindset to handle this.”

Cruz will apparently undergo surgery on January 15th, and the renowned bantamweight hopes to fight again before 2015 comes to a close.

“The Dominator” finally returned to the cage in October, and Cruz quickly took out Takeya Mizugaki with a flurry of punches. The Alliance MMA fighter carries a record of 20-1.
