UFC 226 was widely considered to be the promotion’s most stacked card of the year, but according to a new report, early estimates indicate the event did not generate significant, pay-per-view sales.

Due to the fact last Saturday’s event featured a super fight between champions Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic, a highly anticipated bout between Francis Ngannou and Derrick Lewis, and other pivotal fights, the card appeared to have a fair amount of hype.

But, MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer is reporting early estimates indicate UFC 226 did not sell over 400,000 PPV buys. The prelims averaged 668,000 viewers on FOX Sports 1.

UFC 226 did lose a highly anticipated fight between Brian Ortega and featherweight champ, Max Holloway, a few days prior to the card.. The latter had to withdraw due to concussion like symptoms.
